Spiritual Meaning and Correspondences of Autumn

Traditionally, the Autumn equinox was the time to honor the harvest. Metaphorically, it refers to the harvest of goals and intentions you set or planted when the year started and how those have been evolving or growing.

It is a good time to consider what no longer serves you... what you need to let go of and release.

Think about all the thoughts, worries, work and affirmations you’ve experienced these last few months. The Universe has witnessed and heard your worries and desires. You are going to be rewarded. The season of Autumn is here to slow things down and lead you to what you need.

Journal on what you are harvesting. What are you ready to be abundant in? Love? Money?Contentment? Keep it simple. Narrow down on one thing you really want. It will harvest.

Change- Autumn reminds us that our bodies, minds, and surroundings are always developing. It focuses on the impermanence of life, emphasizing how vital it is to embrace the present.

Preservation- Autumn represents the preservation of life and its basic necessities. During this time, animals prepare for the winter by storing food and creating cozy hibernation spaces. What do you need to prepare?

Protection- We start to practice self-protection by wearing layers and thicker fabrics. We also tend to focus on our health by boosting our immunity through habits and nutrition. Autumn heightens the awareness of your self and surroundings.

Balance- Day and night are the same length during the autumnal equinox. As a result, ancient cultures have always associated this day with the concept of balance. Where do you need better balance in your life?

Letting go- As temperatures drop and leaves are falling, autumn illustrates the beauty of letting go. The idea of letting go highlights the temporary nature of everything around us... and asks us to focus on what matters most.

Preparing for what lies ahead- The winter is coming. To be happy, what do you need to start doing? Focus on mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being.

Harvesting the seeds you have planted- You have worked hard! Pat yourself on the back and be proud of all that you have accomplished. Reflect on how far you have come and how you will incorporate this knowledge to push yourself even further.
