FIRST BREATH: BEGINNER'S MIND (The Shaman's Dream Oracle)

✨️️️️️I make space for wonder and curiosity.️✨️

The older I get, the more I enjoy acting like a kid. I jump at every opportunity (pun intended) to bounce on the trampoline or lay on my back, in the grass, and watch the sky. I like Shirley Temples and spinning like a mix of Rumi and Stevie Nicks to music. I touch things to see how they feel, make myself laugh with jokes I come up with, and look for spirits and UFO's. Though these notions aren’t new to the world, recent research shows that experiencing awe and wonder can positively affect our mental and physical health, ultimately benefiting our lives.

Today's card is asking us to take our first breath again. It is reminding us that when we look at our day as if we've never seen anything like it, it will appear to us as brand new and give us opportunities and experiences that are somewhat new as well.

Many of us have a tendency to dwell on our path; on how we got here and the journey to this point. Dwelling on the path and the journey puts us in the past and we miss the place that we are right now.

Beginner's Mind lets us sit in this moment and start from here. So take a deep breath. And then another. What better place to start from than where you actually are? There are multitudes of experiences today that you haven't had before. Just breathe.

No one's path is easy or without difficulties, but when you start fresh from where you are and you stop dwelling on that path, you can let go of pain, grief and anger. So today, take a deep breath and just be here, in this new place, where you haven't been before. Do not squander the power of First Breath giving the old narrative mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Use it for new beginnings, to animate a world you can play and create in. Do not underestimate the power of your breath and the magic of the word.⁠ Today can be routine or is can be magickal... you decide how you will see it.
