✨Today, we travel to: the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. We are in 574 BCE in the famous spot, located in modern-day Iraq. These hardens are truly one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Although some say the gardens are myth, we are here and they are breathtaking. The gardens are an amazing engineering feat of verdant tiers, which stands almost 75 feet tall, and holds an abundant variety of flowering plants, vines, trees, and leafy shrubs. The walls that hold the terraces of these gardens are over 20 feet thick and made of brick and mud, with deep trenches for the soil that holds the plants. An irrigation system from the Euphrates River keeps the garden lush and flourishing. It feels so prosperous and abundant here, as the gardens are a year-round oasis of lush green in a dry and dusty summer landscape✨
