Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built this exquisite structure as a declaration of love and as a tomb for his adored wife, Mumtaz Mahal. She was a Muslim Persian princess who died giving birth to the couple's 14th child. The splendid building was constructed by more than 20,000 workers and craftsmen over the course of 20 years, every inch and stone of decoration is standing testament to their devotion. As we walk around the remarkable structure, we can feel the depth of love that the emperor had for his cherished wife.✨
